The Bells for Lauren and Helen

A church bell through the mist intones
Down valley where all souls drift by.
A single shimmering note alone
Breaks through unto a clearing sky.

Come, Lords and Ladies of the town
Rejoice upon this new found trill.
Awake refreshed, lit by the dawn
To welcome with a heartfelt thrill.

Beyond is told of further bell
Now resting, waiting on her fate.
She longs to join the common swell
Her voice to call out from church gate.

Now all repair to common song
Chime harmony in carillon.
In sport did Ariel and his throng
Ascend new heights and ever on.

Together did they ring out strong
These sisters two who many knew.
And all are schooled in every tongue
By sound advice pealed from so few.

But these two bells o’er sea were sent
To western shore to a new spire.
Installed to make their message, meant
They called new voices to the choir.
